Rehoboth Beach, Delaware calls itself "The Nation's Summer Capital” and is known as one of the east coast's favorite LGBT-friendly vacation escapes due to the substantial number of LGBT-owned businesses in the town. In the summer it is rarely quiet, or calm, at The Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. It is an outdoor free music and entertainment venue that has been helping locals, and tourists, “rock out” since 1963. The youth in the area generate an atmosphere of excitement and contemporary ideals while the older residents maintain customs and cultural traditions. The warmer months bring in the tourists and the vacationers but the winter months are when the locals and residents get their hometown back.
The Clear Space Theatre Company, for example, is a professional theater company in Rehoboth Beach that offers an agenda of musical and theatrical productions in the Rehoboth Theatre of the Arts – all year round. The town holds many seasonal events annually, as well, including: the Sea Witch Festival, the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival and the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival – just to name a few. In the summer, if you are looking for some wet excitement with no sand and salt then the close by town of Millsboro merits a day trip. It is home to Jungle Jim’s – a huge family-friendly water park with a wave pool, kiddie pool, numerous slides and much more.
